As the Warriors & Barbarians returning players are scheduled to return to Pre Season training this Sunday, the Warriors Coaches are looking for the next batch of Rookies to come through and push for starting positions and lead the teams to success in 2016.

The first few weeks of Pre Season action will be slow to bring rookies up to speed with the game and the basics of positions before training starts to intensify with competition between players for positions once the pads come on. The first month will be without pads and helmets with slight contact and heavy use of bags and tackling sleds.

The Monash Warriors will be starting their unkitted preseason football training this Sunday 7th February at 10am at Monash University, Soccer oval 3, down by the green shed opposite baseball. Players can wear boots on this oval and are advised to bring a dark and a light shirt, plenty of water and sunscreen. Any questions feel free to contact Head Coach Ralph Maggio on 0400490889

Jonathon Tostevin is the most experienced of the group and will be lining up at Guard for the Green & Gold. Not always an Offensive Lineman, Tostevin switched positions in the 2011 World Championships when coach Leijten asked he switch sides of the line as there was a gap at Center. Tostevin, aged 28, has played 10 years of Gridiron and has been a team player throughout his career. Switching positions was not an easy task but with all the hard work and dedication he put towards learning the position, Tostevin has become an anchor to the Warriors 6 Vic Bowl wins in the past 7 years. An intimidating figure at 195cm and 135kg, Tostevin is looking forward throwing his weight around against the best in the world. Continue reading
